Describe the featured project.
This was a really exciting build. When we arrived on the job, this 5,000+-square-foot home had been completely stripped to its studs, and the owners were in litigation with their previous contractor. Frustrated and disillusioned with the entire process, they came to us after receiving a strong recommendation. We were thrilled to have the opportunity to completely change their experience.
This custom home became their pride and joy, and we made clients and referral sources for life. Each aspect of this home was tailor-made to fit the specific needs and everyday uses of the homeowners. We built a new 600-square-foot addition on the second floor and remodeled every square inch of the home. It has heated floors, a floor-to-ceiling marble master bathroom, built-in closets in every bedroom, vaulted ceilings and gorgeous finish woodwork throughout. We also provided the homeowners with a new custom pool, hardscaping and landscaping.
Tell us about the value of collaboration in this industry.
Creating a solid team that works well together is the most important part of a successful project. We work very closely with the architect and designers throughout the entire build. Our favorite projects are those where we are involved for months prior to the first hammer being swung. We offer input to the owner and design team on the cost and constructability of a project during the design phase in order to ensure that expectations are set properly and then met. In turn, we also invite the design team out to the project site regularly during construction to ensure the vision is being met and to offer minor tweaks to the project that might enhance that vision.
What is the most valuable service you offer to clients?
Communication and more communication. I graduated from USC with a bachelor’s degree in English. That education taught me the value of both written and oral communication with clients. Phone calls, emails, texts and in-person meetings are key to keeping clients in the loop about the progression of the job and the schedule. Our value shines through when problems arise. We face issues head-on by talking with our clients early and often.
“The devil is in the details.” True in your line of work?
Attention to detail in construction makes or breaks a build. Meeting code requirements and ensuring safe construction is only the first step. We ensure that each of our homes are built with quality materials by capable tradespeople with an eye toward precision. Archer Building Group’s attention to detail extends to our office operations as well. Every detail, from door hinge finishes to tile thickness, is discussed and planned in advance to streamline our schedule.
