EP Wealth Advisors is an investment management, financial planning and wealth advisory firm with more than $1.4 billion in client assets under management (as of June 2013). The firm’s mission is to understand each client’s unique situation and develop a customized plan with strategies designed to achieve their specific goals and objectives. EP Wealth Advisors was founded in 2004, through the merger of two existing firms. Each of the principals—Patrick Goshtigian, Derek Holman and Brian Parker—has more than 17 years of experience in financial services.

What would you like potential clients to know about you?

“We are committed to helping you understand where you are going, before deciding how to get you there. Today’s economic landscape is constantly evolving, and there is no one formulaic answer for investment management and financial planning. Once we understand your complete picture, we can effectively implement a plan to help you achieve your goals. As an independent firm, we do not receive any compensation from the investments we recommend. This enables us to serve as your fiduciary, always putting your best interests first.”

What is the biggest challenge facing your clients today?

“Our clients are constantly reminded through the media of the market volatility and uncertainty, which can cause worry and confusion about their current financial plans. We help our clients understand that their financial plans are built to achieve long-term goals that reflect their risk tolerance—and the importance of sticking to their plan.”

"We are thankful for the many relationships we have developed with our clients, and although life changes, their reliance on our advice remains.”

What is your best piece of investment advice?

“Be proactive, not reactive. Develop a diversified investment plan and stick with it. Adjustments and rebalancing are beneficial, but starting over with every economic news headline is harmful to your financial future.”

How do you give back to your community?

“The South Bay is not only home to EP Wealth as a firm, but it is home to many of our clients, employees and their families—which is why we choose to have an active role in the community. We are sponsors of local education foundations, athletic associations and community organizations in which a number of our employees dedicate their time and resources to. Additionally, EP Wealth also makes a contribution to a charity each holiday season.”
