EP Wealth Advisors is an investment management, financial planning and wealth advisory firm with more than $1.3 billion in client assets under management (as of August 2012). Founded in 2004 through the merger of two existing firms, the firm develops a fully integrated investment portfolio along with an individualized wealth plan for its clients. Each of EP Wealth Advisors’ principals has more than 15 years experience in financial services.

What would you like potential clients to know about you?

“Once we understand our client’s complete picture, we can more effectively implement a plan to help them achieve their goals. As an independent firm, we do not receive any compensation from the investments we recommend. This enables us to serve as their fiduciary, always putting their best interests first.”

Who is your typical client?

“Professionals, small business owners and retirees, many of whom rely on us to provide comprehensive advice on everything related to their financial lives.”

What is the biggest benefit your clients gain from working with you?

“We take the time to really get to know our clients (and their families) so we can provide a holistic approach to planning. In addition to ongoing monitoring of their investment portfolio, we look at estate planning, insurance, tax strategies, cash flow management, charitable giving, etc.”

What is the biggest challenge facing your clients today?

“Given the type of market uncertainty we’ve seen over the past few years, the biggest challenge for clients is having the discipline to stick to a plan. We’ve built their financial plans with a long-term focus and with careful consideration for their risk tolerance. We help clients avoid making irrational decisions that can potentially sabotage their financial future.”

“Our mission is to understand your unique situation and develop a customized plan with strategies designed to achieve your specific goals and objectives.”

What’s the most common mistake people make with their money?

“Many investors tend to acquire a portfolio of investments, as opposed to an investment portfolio. The best way to verify that your investment portfolio is working for you (and not against you) is to have a plan, a clear understanding of your risk tolerance, and to diversify your investments based on your risk profile and your stage in life.”
