Glass Half Full

The Trump Wine and Beer Festival returns with a taste of the South Bay’s best.

I remember it was about a year ago when I got an email from a friend. “Any way you can help me score a couple tickets to the Trump Wine and Beer Festival?” he wrote. “I really want to impress a date coming in from out of town.” Wow, what was I missing out on, that this friend needed an assist just to get in the door?

Turns out Trump National Golf Club’s Wine and Beer Festival is not only one of the best epicurean events of the summer, it’s also one of the most coveted. (BTW, he got tickets.) Food trucks, pretty people, unlimited boutique wine and beer, plus that ridiculous view? I see the attraction.

Now approaching its sixth outing on August 24, the festival will no doubt top last year’s success with even more food and beverage vendors, amazing entertainment and biddable raffle items. Best of all, proceeds from the event go to one of the coolest organizations in the South Bay: the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy. That crew goes above and beyond each year to keep the Peninsula’s natural integrity intact and beautiful for generations to come.

I can’t think of a better way to support them than to raise a cool glass of sauvignon blanc with a few good friends. I’ll see you there. August 24, 12 to 4 p.m.,
