Growing up can be a bumpy road, and it’s no exception for Riley, who is uprooted from her Midwest life when her father starts a new job in San Francisco. Like all of us, Riley is guided by her emotions: Joy (Amy Poehler), Fear (Bill Hader), Anger (Lewis Black), Disgust (Mindy Kaling) and Sadness (Phyllis Smith). Although Joy—Riley’s main and most important emotion—tries to keep things positive, the emotions disagree on how best to navigate a new city, house and school in this humorous offering from Pixar. In theatres June 19.

The world Cal and Frida have always known is gone, and they’ve left the crumbling city of Los Angeles far behind them. They now live in a shack in the wilderness, working side-by-side to make their days tolerable in the face of hardship and isolation. A gripping and provocative debut novel by a stunning new talent, California imagines a frighteningly realistic near-future in which clashes between mankind’s dark nature and deep-seated resilience force us to question how far we will go to protect the ones we love.

California Design, 1930-1965: Living in a Modern Way

More than 500 guests turned out for Southbay’s First Annual Girls Night Out. Terranea Resort provided the dramatic back drop for a fashion show highlighting eight South Bay boutiques. Guests sipped wine by Uncorked and Pavan Liqueur de France cocktails and browsed items at a summer boutique with proceeds benefitting local charity Walk With Sally. A big thank you to Choura Events for producing on such a amazing event!
Pratte’s Reef off the El Segundo coast promised the South Bay the perfect wave, only to wash up plenty of disappointment. We reminisce on a swell idea that just couldn’t catch a break.
