Tell us about the staff at Aesthetic Edge.
“Our staff truly cares and is committed to making our guests smile. Our contagious enthusiasm and our reputation for integrity instill trust and confidence in our clients.”
Dr. Marcus, what’s one trend that is changing or defining your specialty today?
“As the owners of Aesthetic Edge, we have vowed to be different from our competition. The recent popularization of medical spas has become concerning due to a dangerous lack of medical oversight. We specifically created Aesthetic Edge as a facility with on-site physicians who personally perform and oversee all medical procedures.”
Dr. Barbarino, how did you become interested in cosmetic surgery?
“I worked with a significant number of reconstructive and functional patients throughout residency and fellowship and started realizing that there is a fine line between medical patients and cosmetic patients. I enjoy the creativity of the field and the limitless possibilities. It’s all about making patients feel confident about themselves and the best that they can be. By looking their best, they can find the courage, confidence and resilience to do things they never thought they could, take care of the people they love and live their lives to the fullest.”
How do you give back to your community?
“In addition to our work in the local community with various local groups including the Sandpipers and 1736 Family Crisis Center, all of the doctors donate their services to help those less fortunate including battered women, hate crime victims and very deserving super-moms who have undergone tragedy in their lives.”
Dr. Marcus, was there a defining moment in your career that guided you to where you are now?
“About seven years ago when the original concept of Aesthetic Edge was devised, we realized that a myriad of people undergoing cosmetic treatments were traveling from the South Bay to Beverly Hills. This seemed crazy to us so we decided to bring Beverly Hills to the South Bay … just with a more natural beauty. We created a luxurious, state-of-the-art facility and hired only the most qualified and competent medical personnel. We have built our business on integrity.”

The firemen of the South Bay share a special and important relationship with the cities they serve. From answering medical calls in Manhattan Beach to dousing wild fires in the hills of the Peninsula, their immediate response to an urgent call could mean the difference between life and death. Out of uniform, many of these brave individuals engage with their communities on a deeper level, whether donating their time and resources to philanthropic causes or simply enjoying a South Bay lifestyle to the fullest with family and friends. Rightfully private and incredibly humble, most of these men would be content getting the job done without much fanfare. We went inside the station (and out) to get to know some of these guys better. Here are their stories.
