Dr. Kristin Egan is a Manhattan Beach facial plastic surgeon, in practice for the past nine years. She provides cosmetic surgeries, such as facelift, blepharoplasty, rhinoplasty, browlift and scar revision; injectables, such as Botox, Radiesse, Restylane, Juvederm and Sculptra; and chemical peels and laser treatments are done in her office. Dr. Egan received her undergraduate training at Princeton University and her medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine. After completing a residency program in otolaryngology at University of California San Francisco, she joined the staff of the Department of Otolaryngology at UCSF and then returned to New York for her fellowship in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery. She relocated to the South Bay and opened her own practice in 2011.

What is your area of specialty?

“I chose to enter the field of facial plastic surgery through otolaryngology training because the operation I find most rewarding is rhinoplasty, or nose surgery. The nose is a unique structure, since it has both cosmetic and functional components. The challenge as a surgeon is to be creative in accomplishing the desired aesthetic results while respecting the critical role the nose plays in life. Each nose is different, so I am always applying my experience in new situations to maximize my patients’ satisfaction.”

What’s one trend that is changing or defining your specialty today?

“Patients are requesting less down time from their activities, so cosmetic surgeries are becoming increasingly less invasive, resulting in scars that are well-hidden. Injectables and in-office procedures are gaining popularity because they can be done quickly with natural results.”

What do you like to do for fun, when you’re not at work?

“I love a good book and am always asking patients for suggestions. I also stay busy working with my hands even outside of the operating room. I enjoy making jewelry, and my sewing machine is always running, since I also love to make clothes and to alter vintage clothes I find.”

What does the future hold for your practice?

“I look forward to building my reputation for compassionate and professional care in the South Bay. As my practice grows, I am also excited to deepen my connections in the community overall.”
