“La sosta” means “the resting place,” and La Sosta Enoteca offers guests the experience of a rustic yet elegant, comfortable yet upscale restaurant and wine bar with a welcoming atmosphere. “We offer guests a place to experience Northern Italian classic food in a new yet familiar way,” says chef and owner Luca Manderino. “We cook from our memories and our hearts.” Specialties include the “cutting board”—an assortment of Italian cold cuts and cheeses served on a wooden board, delicious gnocchi and polenta, delightful homemade desserts, and an impressive array of imported wines. Chef Luca was born in Venice, Italy, where he grew up in the restaurant business. He moved to the U.S. 16 years ago, and for nine years he worked as a pilot on private jets. In 2005, he returned to his love of food and opened La Sosta. “My mom helped me at the beginning,” Chef Luca said. “It was great.” In fact, he names his mother as his culinary role model.
