As a financial advisor, Lisa Garey helps clients develop an investment and financial strategy to lay out a clear path toward their financial goals through appropriate investments in their portfolios. A 17-year veteran of the financial field, Lisa joined Morgan Stanley in May 2012. She is a South Bay native and Redondo Beach resident. In 1996, Lisa started her career at Bear, Stearns & Co. in Century City and remained there until the buy-out by J.P. Morgan in 2008. She then joined UBS Private Wealth Management. What would you like potential clients to know about you?
“Drawing on my own insight as well as Morgan Stanley’s global research, I am able to make informed recommendations and design a flexible investment management plan that is unique to each client.”
What is the biggest benefit your clients gain from working with you?
“I strive to provide a holistic, comprehensive understanding of clients’ financial net worth—not just their investments with me.”
What is the biggest challenge facing your clients today?
“Asset allocation. The financial markets are dynamic and unpredictable. I work to counter that inherent uncertainty by taking a proactive, consultative approach with an understanding of a client’s dreams, risk tolerance and time horizon.”
What’s the most common mistake people make with their money?
“I believe people are not involved enough with their financial investments. Many people know they own mutual funds but don’t understand the underlying investments.”
What’s most rewarding about your work?
“When a client or business associate refers a friend or family member to me. Knowing they value our relationship enough to trust me with an important relationship in their life is priceless.”
How do you give back to your community?
“I’m very involved with the Cancer Support Community of Redondo Beach (CSC) as a board member. CSC provides services to help cancer participants and their families and hosts amazing events within the community, including Fido & Friends—a fundraising walk for dog lovers and their friends held this October at Terranea in Palos Verdes.”
