Palos Verdes Medical Group, founded in 1992, is a multi-specialty practice serving the entire family seven days a week. The friendly, nurturing staff members take pride in giving patients personalized care and maintain a high level of expertise through continuing education. “Our desire is to be true family physicians in every way,” says Dr. Lawrence Sher. “We believe that health care should be personalized for each family member and delivered in a personal, yet knowledgeable way.”
Dr. Lawrence D. Sher grew up Huntington Beach and has practiced in Palos Verdes since 1987. He specializes in pediatrics, ADHD, and adult and pediatric allergy, asthma and immunology. He founded Peninsula Research Associates in 1999, a clinical trials institute devoted to helping develop new vaccines and medications. Dr. Sher has three sons in their 20s, and he enjoys golf and the South Bay beaches.
Dr. Monica Saad is a board-certified pediatrician who has been in practice for more than 25 years. She has a special interest in preventive medical care, newborn care and adolescent health. She has been the sub-investigator for more than 200 clinical trials at Peninsula Research Associates. Dr. Saad moved to this area 18 years ago and joined Palos Verdes Medical Group in 1995. She has two adult daughters and enjoys hiking, walking and running.
Dr. Laurence Gorlick, who is board-certified in internal medicine, has been in practice for 31 years. In 1986, he became one of the first board-certified geriatric physicians in the U.S. He moved to Palos Verdes Peninsula in 1989 and enjoys exercise, golf, travel and books on archaeoastronomy. Dr. Gorlick has five children and is married to Suzanne, who works in commercial real estate.
Dr. Stacey Lowen was a moonlighting physician at Palos Verdes Medical Group during her residency at UCLA and joined the practice permanently in 2010. Dr. Lowen is married to Adam Hime, an entertainment attorney and SVP with MTV networks. They have two daughters, ages 11 and 13.
Dr. Stephanie Chen is PVMG’s newest physician, and she specializes in pediatrics and internal medicine. She attended medical school at the University of Utah School of Medicine and completed her pediatric and internal medicine residency at Loma Linda University Medical Center. Dr. Chen is fluent in Mandarin, and she enjoys good food, playing beach volleyball and attending musicals.
