Describe the project.

After 20 years of living on an ocean-facing property with no direct ocean views, it was time for a change to the existing home of our clients. With the challenges of the city ordinance height regulations and the intent to completely recreate the journey up to the residence, the design team—Patrick Cunningham, AIA, Josette Murphy, founder of About:Space, and landscape designer Jim Matsuo—identified how to transform this home into a uniquely beautiful yet functional open home. By mixing pitched and flat roofs, interior vaulted ceilings added to the experience of space. 

This 3,500-square-foot transitional-style home, built by Michael Cunningham, GC, has a semisubterranean attached two-car garage. The main level that serves as the primary living quarters features an open-concept great room that interfaces with the front and backyard via vanishing sliding doors. The home also includes a primary suite, guest room, two home offices and laundry room, with custom millwork designed by Boudreau Construction.

Brothers Patrick and Michael founded C&C Partners in 1987, forming a family-oriented, residential design-build partnership that can take a project from concept to completion entirely in-house. Like the cliché, we can talk about family and our team in the same sentence. Our C&C Partners team is next level. Each individual plays a significant role in the process of designing and building custom homes. We have been fortunate to have people working with us for 30+ years, and those who have recently connected with us fit right in! From architects and project managers to estimators and supervisors, we have one fun, hardworking bunch. When our conference table is not full of plans or trace paper, you can find us sitting together enjoying some charcuterie and cheers-ing to another good week!
