South Bay native Joe Buck uses technical expertise and personal dedication to coach his real estate clients—in person and virtually.

Times have changed since Joe Buck had his first experience with the real estate industry. It was 2009, and he was playing professional basketball overseas. In his spare time, he had so much success rehabbing an income property that he continued to make real estate investments. After retiring from basketball, he turned his passion into full-time work, becoming a licensed broker five years ago and joining Compass in early 2020.

Now the Redondo Beach native is guiding his clients in a manner that most of us have never experienced when buying or selling a home: real estate done mostly remotely. “At Compass, our systems and technology have allowed us to continue helping buyers and sellers without skipping a beat—from day one of the shutdown,” Joe shares. “We have endless virtual options for home and neighborhood tours, and video conference calls have been huge for me connecting with clients—going over documents and discussing things at length just as if we were in person.”

Joe’s “new normal” as a Realtor consists of blending the technology-driven support that Compass provides with his intimate knowledge of the local community as a second-generation South Bay native. “I offer all the necessary tools to navigate through the entire process of buying or selling a home in this new way of life—start to finish. My clients have a qualified professional with them every step of the way.”

Compass provides a variety of ways real estate clients can conduct business safely during this pandemic, including virtual open houses, 3D staging, neighborhood tours and buyer events. Plenty of digital feedback and analysis is available to assist with dissecting pricing, creating advertising and writing offers to get clients the best possible outcome.

Joe has experienced several success stories in the midst of these ever-changing times. “I had three listings in escrow when the COVID-19 shutdown was initiated,” he shares. “I was able to successfully navigate through that time, and in the end all buyers and sellers were extremely happy! I also had a listing in Manhattan Beach that needed to be sold, and I was able to do that within 30 days of the client listing with Compass—even under current conditions.”

He takes great joy in connecting with clients on a more personal level. “I genuinely love the process of helping people buy and sell in my hometown,” he says. “I enjoy envisioning their life goals along with them. This is the best place in the world—nothing comes close to the South Bay. I truly have such a sense of pride helping people find their new homes here where they can experience the best lifestyle on the planet.”

Joe encourages anyone who may be apprehensive about dealing with a pushy real estate agent to reach out to him first. While it may be tempting to test the waters with a DIY approach to buying or selling, it’s crucial to have professional guidance today more than ever because of the way business is being handled.

“I have an approach of genuine caring first and foremost,” he says. “I take the time to truly listen to your wants and needs. I don’t get paid for my time; I only get paid for my results. You’ll always have me as an honest and trustworthy confidant to help guide you in whatever direction works best for you.”
