Kristen Novoa of Vista Sotheby’s International Realty has been a top-producing South Bay real estate agent for 22 years. She earned both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in psychology, and before becoming a Realtor she worked as a psychologist and a jury consultant. Kristen specializes in all of the Beach Cities and The Strand. 


What distinguishes you as a top realtor?

“I started selling multimillion-dollar homes early on, and I have never been intimidated working with high-end real estate. It takes a certain mindset and level of professionalism to sell these homes. I believe that any seller in this area must be reflected by a Realtor who exudes luxury and professionalism. I have always been that Realtor, no matter what price point.”


Why should potential clients trust you to do the best job for them?

“As a Certified Negotiations Expert, I have had formal training in how to negotiate—probably the most critical aspect of being a Realtor. It is also critical to be acutely familiar with our real estate contracts and documents. I keep abreast of changes in required forms and contracts to keep my clients’ best interests at the forefront. I’m here to be their chief strategist and trusted advisor through the entire process. I took the time to earn extra certifications to better serve the people I work with.”


How does your background in psychology and law enhance your work in real estate?

“My background in psychology is key in counseling people through the emotional components of the home buying and selling process. Buyers and sellers need reassurances along the way from someone who can listen and communicate effectively. My legal background helps me strategize and break down all the moving parts in real estate transactions, which also brings my clients comfort. I like to get ahead of issues before they arise, which helps ease stress. I sincerely care about my clients and treat each purchase and sale as if it were my own.”


How do clients benefit when working with you?

“I am always present, responsive, organized and experienced in handling all types of transactional scenarios. Clients benefit from my negotiating skills, marketing plan, undivided attention, and being trusted and respected by other Realtors, which gives me access to deeper levels of networking and information my clients can benefit from. Maintaining an honest work ethic with my peers has been critical to the success of my clients in winning! Being trusted and respected by other Realtors is vital when so much business is done beyond the internet and the Multiple Listing Service.”
