Maison Luxe Home

Describe the featured project.

We were asked by the homeowners to style their living and media rooms. This home has a contemporary Balinese style, and our clients wanted it to reflect the luxury hotels they have frequented over the years. For the media room, we styled the 12 floating bookshelves with photography of local South Bay surf spots, coral, books and other treasures that the homeowners collected throughout their travels.

In the main living room, we worked with their existing sectional and coffee table as foundational pieces for the project. We added finishing touches and elements that made the room feel warm and inviting. To achieve this, we brought in antique, hand-knotted rugs that had been stonewashed in Germany, cowhide leather ottomans and two mid-century occasional chairs in a whiskey color.

The pillows are all one-of-a-kind textiles from around the globe—including one that was fabricated from a Chinese wedding skirt. Large glass lamps were used behind the sofa to add ambience at night while extending the view during the day.

How is your company adapting to the changes brought on by the coronavirus pandemic?

We launched a beautiful new website that features curated collections of our favorite accessories and gifts. We are getting ready to add more furniture and artwork as well. The website is frequently updated with new products, and our customers love shopping from home as well as in person. So many of our customers have commented on how grateful they are to still be able to shop and get inspiration in person. It is also nice for us to see some friendly faces during these difficult times. In addition, we offer Zoom consultations, and we work remotely with customers who live out of state.

Mid-century modern: here to stay or on its way out?

Stay! Mid-century is such a fun style that “plays well with others.” I love combining mid-century with a global look, like our featured project.

Tell us about some of your favorite home features that are meant to increase serenity.

Soft pillows, serene artwork, soft lighting, peaceful scents in candles and diffusers like palo santo are just a few things I recommend. I encourage my clients to pay attention to their home environment and how they want to live in it, being mindful of what they want to be surrounded by.

What is on your bucket list this year?

After this past year of lockdowns, I would love to get out in nature this summer and explore the great outdoors!
