Re Nu Mi Wellness Center is a holistic wellness center that specializes in Asian medicine, including acupuncture, Advanced Regeneration Therapy (ART), prescribing herbs and holistic counseling to heal the entire body. The practice specializes in treatment for acute/chronic pain, migraines, sports injuries, infertility and anti-aging treatments. The mission of Re Nu Mi Wellness Center is to renew people by increasing each person’s physical and emotional harmony, which nurtures relationships—the very essence of life.
Owned by Dr. John J. Kim, a doctor of Oriental medicine who has been practicing in the South Bay for 26 years, Re Nu Mi Wellness Center also features a caring staff that includes nurse assistants, an office team and three other acupuncture professionals. As part of his practice in Asian medicine and as a benefit to his patients, Dr. Kim also associates with several medical doctors. He recognizes the importance of integrative medicine for the total well-being of the individual.
Dr. Kim earned both his masters degree and his doctorate degree in acupuncture and Oriental medicine. He served for six years on the California State Board of Acupuncture and as the chairman of the board from 1999 through 2000. In 2009, Dr. Kim developed a new technique in acupuncture to promote detoxification of the body and anti–aging.

Tell us about Re Nu Mi ART Facial Sculpting.
“I developed ART— Advanced Regeneration Therapy—as a natural method of rejuvenating dry, sagging, wrinkled skin. If you are contemplating invasive, expensive and temporary anti-aging methods such as surgical facelifts or chemical injections (like Botox), you owe it to yourself to explore the healthier, natural and satisfying results that can be achieved through my facial sculpting. It removes wrinkles, relieves facial muscle tension, brightens the complexion and improves collagen production. This three-hour procedure requires little recovery and a few follow-up visits to Re Nu Mi Wellness Center to complete the rejuvenation process.”
What is your area of specialty?
“We specialize in healing many ailments, including sciatica, migraine/tension headaches, stress relief, emotional distress, sports/muscle injury, infertility and natural facial lifting treatments.”
What’s one trend that is changing your specialty?
“People focusing on a more natural way of healing their body and understanding that acupuncture WORKS!”
What do you like to do for fun, when you’re not at work?
“I am a master of Zen meditation, and I teach weekly classes. I am an avid golfer, and I love to spend any free time on the golf course! Also, I am currently working on writing a book.”
How do you give back to your community?
“I taught Qi Gong classes at the Beach Cities Health District for eight years. I have participated in the Senior Citizen Health Fair for both Manhattan Beach and Redondo Beach. Since 1994, I have also been involved in a free clinic that provides community services.”
What does the future hold for your practice?
“The future holds the opportunity to share Re Nu Mi’s philosophies with the community, along with the knowledge of using the power of positive thinking; we can transform our overall health and live happier healthier lives.”
